Impact Target-A specific, measurable, community outcome that is the focus of an Impact Council.

Long Term Outcome: Benefits for participants during or after their involvement with a program.

Short Term Outputs are products or a program’s activities, such as number of people served or units of service delivered.

Outcomes are related to measurable changes in knowledge, skills, attitudes, values, behavior, conditions, or status.

Changing Community Conditions is a statement of the broad impact of the changes in the community.

Results

IMPACT AREA:  More youth are engaged in a range of safe and productive activities in the community.

Ultimate Outcome:  There will be a 20% increase in the positive decision making by local youth as measured by reductions in early parenting situations, reduction in the number of youth involved in substance misuse, increase in appropriate behaviors, and a decrease of parental acceptance of inappropriate behaviors of youth in Gratiot County by 2011.

Priority Outcome:  All students involved in a program designed to promote connectedness will identify knowledge gained to succeed in school and/or abstain from unhealthy life choices.

Sub-outcomes:

  • Parenting adults have the capacity to support and advocate for children’s academic success and to prepare them daily for school.
  • Schools promote attendance and provide high quality education in a safe and supportive environment.
  • Children develop the social, emotional, cognitive and physical skills needed to succeed in school.
  • Youth attend school, develop attachments to positive role models, engage in healthy behaviors and succeed academically.
  • Avenues of communication will be improved to promote more successful participation of youth in program offerings.
  • Parents, childcare providers and other caregivers have information and resources necessary to support children in their participation in community programs.
  • Community values education and provides youth with positive developmental experiences both in and out of the school environment.

IMPACT AREA: More persons are self-sufficient with their basic needs met.

Ultimate Outcome:  20% of county residents will have completed satisfactorily educational life skill programs that increase their employability and reduce their reliance on public assistance programs by 2010.

Priority Outcome:  People enrolled in assistance programs will learn a new life skill to lessen dependency on assistance.  2-1-1 will be used for connections that will improve life skills assistance rather than seeking ongoing consumable resources.

Sub-outcomes:

  • Individuals develop skills needed to obtain employment in growing industries.
  • Individuals become more aware of the benefits of entrepreneurship and are guided toward enhanced opportunities for small business ventures.
  • Ample employment development opportunities are provided to individuals through support from public and private sectors.
  • Earned income will be supplemented by public sector financial tools (e.g. tax credits and public benefits)
  • Youth and families develop effective money management skills.
  • Financial institutions and community service providers work to develop and market low-cost alternative banking products for low-income and unbanked populations.
  • Individuals and families increase savings in order to purchase a home.
  • Individuals and families can sustain home ownership.
  • Low-and moderate-income families have more opportunities for affordable home ownership
  • Individuals have an increased knowledge of home ownership benefits and opportunities through home-buying education.
