The Creation of Gratiot County Volunteer Connections
Gratiot County Volunteer Connections was created through collaboration between the Gratiot County Volunteer Connections Committee, United Way, and Alma College. The Gratiot County Volunteer Connections Committee developed the mission, vision, website format, and website content. United Way provided meeting space, web space, and a network of local agency contacts. Alma College provided student volunteers, training/technology, and website development. After approximately a year of work Gratiot County Volunteer Connections is now off the ground. The website created will serve as a backbone to the center. This will allow for the opportunity to expand, but if resources diminish the website will provide sustainability.
Gratiot County Volunteer Connections will serve as a volunteer center for Gratiot County. It will connect volunteers with volunteer opportunities and create a network for community agencies. It is the hope of the committee that we will eventually have a physical volunteer center to go along with the web-based volunteer center. The Gratiot County Volunteer Connections thanks all of the volunteers that put their time and energy into this project. It will clearly be something that impacts the Gratiot County community for years to come.
